Great Holiday Read

Do you remember this book?  I think it stands as one of my all time favorite Christmas books... The Best Christmas Pageant Ever by Barbara Robinson.  It's for older children (it's a book, not a story) and even though its been years I would love to read it again now with a fresh adult perspective.

A quick synopsis... A family of rowdy, undisciplined and rather nasty children decide to participate in the local Christmas Pageant much to the chagrin of pretty much everyone else.  Funny and poignant, the true meaning of Christmas really comes through.  I think I may have even shed a too-cool-for-school teenage tear back in the day.  Check it out.

  1. I only knew this as a movie I saw in grade school when no one wanted to do any work near the holidays...

  4. That is a total flashback for me. My mom use to read that to us every year at Christmas time (but edited I think - language). I agree - great book!
