Project: The Fort

Thanks for all the input on the Mac issue...we're looking into it and hopefully will have some solutions soon--it appears to be a connection issue (hopefully). In the mean time I'm using our trusty old Dell to make this post.

So I've been working on a new little project for Beanie and I'm excited to say it's finished and it actually turned out pretty well...for something I concocted 2 weeks ago and really had no experiencing making. It's a little play tent, or fort. I wanted it to be a little circus-y, colorful, a little eclectic, and but still girly. As fun as it was to make, it was even more fun watching Beanie's excitement as she ran up to it and then continued to run in and out several times. She loved it! That's what B said...I'm not just making that up.

Anyway, here are some pics. As you can see it's held up by ribbon tied to hooks on the ceiling. There are 5 supports total (1 in the middle and 1 for each corner). The 2 back supports are actually looped directly onto hooks mounted on the wall and the middle and front two are fastened to the ceiling.

For a first time project I think it turned out rather well. The next time I will definitely make some changes...but now I know what to do. I'm also planning on making some pillows to go in there. If anyone is interested in such a play tent I'm considering selling them on etsy...let me know.

  7. Now that is cute and original. I'm impressed Miggs!!! I think they'd definitely sell on etsy.

I have a guilty confession - I thought that was B in the tent at first glance. You guys seriously look alike! But I've noticed that A LOT of couples look like bro & sis. I think it's pretty cute!

  16. I did mean to say that I thought that was YOU in the tent until I enlarged it and saw it was B.

My sister Brooke wants to buy one! You've got your first official customer! She wants to know how much you'll be selling them for.

  17. Britty--

I know I know, I just thought it was funny.

OK so price wise these are going to be around $200...I'm not sure if people are going to think that's a little steep, but remember they're not made in an assembly line in China. :) It takes about a week and we'll be out of town for a little while, so at least another 2-3 weeks. I've got some fabric picked out and I've got some ideas of how I want this next one to look...so if she likes it great, if not we can talk about doing something custom made.

  18. oh.my.gosh.

Seriously. There are some things in this world that I see and think - WOW, I LOVE THAT and this tent is one of them. I don't love everything either. I wouldn't tell you I loved it if I didn't.

This is really interesting that you put this up because I have had an idea brewing in my mind for months about installing hooks in the ceiling of our playroom to use for suspending sheets from. But your is def. def. def much cuter than I could have imagined.

Why oh why aren't we neighbors and creating together and bouncing ideas off each other in the wee hours of the night?

    I am dying over this.
