Dan In Real Life: The Music

OK so back to DIRL (daninreallife)...another thing I like about this movie is the music. The soundtrack is done by Sondre Lerche, an artist that a friend introduced me to a few years ago. At first I liked his stuff, then it got old kinda quick. But I have to say, he did really well with this movie. Most of the songs are original tracks for the movie, but there are a couple of older songs of his from previous albums.

For me, music is such an integral part of life... I constantly have a soundtrack in my head... thinking of songs that would be the background music to my life. Hmmm, driving in the golden hour of a fall day on the east coast--this is definitely feels like Kings of Convenience....playing at the park with my baby girl on a warm summer day, I don't know maybe Lovely Day by Bill Withers? Music and mood go hand in hand, especially in movies and I think Sondre Lerche does a fantastic job, even with the instrumental pieces. I went to check out the soundtrack on itunes and can't find the song when they're on the long drive to Rhode Island. So if anyone figures out where/how to get that song let me know.

Have a great weekend!

Hugs,
Migs

*Update* Never mind I found the song...It's called "To be Surprised." Go to Songerize, type in the name and listen to it. (FYI, I love the instrumental parts best).

  1. So we watched this movie last night... we rented it per your recommendation.

Cute movie. I did have to wonder why they had to put in that stupid shower scene. It seemed so forced and weird in there... "Let's see if we can get him to see her naked"?????

And the stretching scene - unnecessary too. Besides those two scenes I would recommend it to any family. Very clean otherwise.

I loved the part where they were singing the pig face song and my favorite quote,
"This corn is like an angel"

    HAHAHA.

The music WAS great. I was wondering about it, so thank you.

Such a fun family. LOVED the crossword game too.

  2. Likely--yes the shower scene also seemed a little forced from my viewpoint as well...and I didn't really mind the stretching but I can see where it was a little risque. The only other thing to watch out for is the "uncorking" talk...BUT on the whole i found it quite clean, not to mention I appreciate seeing a functional family being portrayed. I think that's as hard to come by as a clean movie.

    Glad you liked it.
