R.I.P.

It's official...my laptop ate it. Rather shocking since I was SURE B's was gonna die first. Oh well. Luckily we got an external hard drive a while back and I believe most of my important files are saved. It still stinks but what can you do? So it's gonna be a little tougher to blog these days since we're sharing a computer. We're on the hunt for a new one--computer that is. We're thinking of going Mac. I'm debating between another laptop and a desktop. And what about used vs. new? Ugh. This is what I hate about technology...stuff just breaks too easily and too quickly. And if it doesn't break, it becomes obsolete with in a matter of years. I have books from my childhood in perfectly good condition, but my 3 year old laptop? Dead. My razor phone was cutting edge a couple years ago, now....the alarm doesn't work right, some of the other buttons recently stopped working and it's basically on it's way out. Lame. This is what bugs me about "progress."

Have a good weekend!

  1. We recently went through this exact situation. We went Mac desktop--so much more bang for our buck than the laptop. But if you need mobility, then, well, laptop no question. The Apple site has refurbs which run a bit cheaper than the new ones, but the have the same warranty. I think the educational discount might be better though, I forgot.

  2. What exactly died? Was it your hard drive? Because, if not, I can recover any files off of a healthy drive (assuming you are missing any from your external).
If it was your hard drive, then that means your computer is probably fine and you just need a replacement hard disk, which is easy.
    Just let me know.

  4. they do this on purpose. things are meant to break so you have to repair and buy new. i wish car and tech companies would sell products that are more expensive but VERY well made.

go mac. we have a super cool (but now obselete - or almost) desktop but I think laptops are the way to go these days. macs are great but they will take some getting used to.

  5. yeah I think we're sorta excited about the idea of getting a mac. definitely will take some getting used to...I liked my dell--my links, my desktop, etc. Scott--I think it's definitely the hard drive...if we decided against the Mac I'll let you know, that would be great to have your help--thanks for the offer.
