This Little Miggy Stayed Home: Victory

Wednesday, February 22, 2006

I'm still riding the wave of excitement from my victory conquered only minutes ago . . . my bread rose! My bread rised!? I don't think you understand, I've been trying to make bread since we first got to NYC and for some reason this hasn't been working for me, meaning I haven't been able to make it rise. I've gone through at least 9 (nine!) packets of yeast, and probably somewhere in the neighborhood of 40 cups of flour, not to mention I've lost at least 24 hours of my life trying to make this happen. But I'm persistent if anything. . . and if I'm going to perfect my 1950's housewife persona, I have to be able to bake the perfect loaf of bread. (Sorry, from now on I'll try to avoid using the word "loaf.") Anyway, please see photos below.

Beautiful. Makes me want to cry.

Oh, also I finally got a winter coat that is both functional and fashionable. Ideally I wanted a coat with down filling, but when I saw this coat I knew I had found the right one eventhough it was polyfill. And I really knew I had found the right one when it was finally delivered and the tag indicated that it was good for temperatures down to 40 below. The best part is the snorkel hood. I'll have to post pics later, I'm too tired to do that right now . . . but stay tuned, you don't want to miss my new coat.
